Boyds is a Family-owned business established in 2005 by Jason and Alison Boyd. With over 18 years’ professional experience Jason is well respected in the music profession as a concert technician and has tuned for customers as diverse as James Blunt, Delta Goodrem, Dudley Moore, Roger Woodward, BB King, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Michael Crawford, Victor Borge and Stevie Wonder.

The whole ethos of the shop is simple – a stock of excellent quality pre-loved instruments as well as affordable new pianos in addition to high-end concert instruments which are all expertly regulated, maintained and sourced. Jason frequently visits piano factories (in person) on 4 continents to ensure that only the very best instruments are delivered (by air or sea) to the showroom.

We believe our after-sales service is second-to-none. With relatively small running costs we provide great instruments at realistic prices, and pride ourselves on giving you the best price and advice possible – from entry model pianos (for beginners) – to concert grands for leading professionals / concert halls.

In 2006 we were finalists in the Australian Music Association’s ‘Best Presented Store’ category!

Jason Boyd – Partner/Sales/Piano Technician

Jason was awarded an Advanced Certificate in Piano Technology in Melbourne 89/90 and has worked in Brisbane as a piano technician for 18 years. Jason has carried out Stuart & Sons, Grotrian, Yamaha and Kawai training as well as Pianomation & Piano Disc installation. He is also an Accredited member of the Australasian Piano Tuners Association. Jason frequently visits the world’s leading Piano factories / manufacturers to source only the very best instruments for the showroom. These include: – Australia’s Stuart & Sons in Newcastle, Bosendorfer in Vienna, Yamaha in Japan and Grotrian in Germany.

Alison Boyd – Partner/Sales

Alison has been a piano enthusiast from a young age. She has also visited Stuart & Sons in Newcastle and Bosendorfer Vienna. We are proud that Alison won “The Best Newcomer” to the music industry in the Australian Music Association’s awards in 2006. Alison is also a trained accountant and looks after our administrative duties, as well as keeping up her piano lessons!

Courtney Stevens - Piano Technician

Courtney studied an Advanced Certificate in Piano Technology in Melbourne 85/86. He has been working in Brisbane as a piano technician for 20 years working for Brisbane’s main music stores. He has carried out Yamaha training and currently does concert tunings and private work.
